Plastic Grocery Bags
Return single-use bags to stores accepting plastic bags and/or wrap. It is estimated that the people of Connecticut have been using 700 million plastic bags a year! As of August 1, 2019, by law, plastic checkout bags in Connecticut cost $.10 apiece. Some stores have stopped providing plastic checkout bags entirely, and are offering reusable and paper bags at a price. In addition, the law is slated to ban plastic checkout bags altogether on July 1, 2021. That being said, there are still many plastic bags in circulation, and many types of them are still exempt from the new law.
